Pics from Science Olympiad, VRC
Below are some pictures from events February 26. Students from DRSS competed in their first Science Olympiad competition. The event was held at Wright State University, and our students made a good showing for their first ever competition.
In the evening, students enjoyed the Vandalia Recreation Center - spending time on the climbing wall, in the gymnasium, and in the swimming pool.

VRC, parents meeting
DRSS Parents,
Just a reminder that we have the Vandalia Recreation Center reserved Saturday, February 26, from 7-9PM. Students can bring a guest, and it is $7 per person to attend. We have access to the climbing wall, gymnasium, and swimming pool. Students can pay at the door with their permission slips. Students have have permission slips to attend, as well as a climbing wall waiver if they want to climb the wall. If you need copies, the links are below and in an older post on this blog as well.
We also have our next parents meeting on February 28, from 5:30-6:30. This will be at the school AND on Elluminate if you prefer to "attend" virtually. The link is in a previous post.

Portfolio and parents meeting
DRSS Parents,
At our last parents meeting, I mentioned a document that helps explain the portfolio that each student is completing. Below is a link to that document...sorry it took so long.

Also, the next parents meeting is set for February 28 at 5:30PM. We will have the meeting at the school, but I will also run an Elluminate session as well. WARNING: this is my first time trying to run a parents meeting both in-person AND on Elluminate. Many of you liked the Elluminate session, so I'm willing to try this and see how it works. :)
In addition, following the parents meeting at 6:30 there will be meeting for any parent wanting to know about Post Secondary Enrollment Options. This meeting will NOT be done via Elluminate...only in-person.

We have rented out the Vandalia Recreation Center on Saturday, February 26, from 7:00-9:00PM. For $7, students get access to the gymnasium area, the swimming pool, and the climbing wall. DRSS students may also bring up to one friend in grades 8-10 that does not attend our school.
Please complete the permission slip, as well as the climbing wall waiver (the rec center staff will NOT let you climb without your parent's signature here), and turn this and your $7 in to the office. Links to both of the permission slips are below, and hard copies will be available at the office.
